On June 25th, 2024, Calvary Cemetery in the heart of West Conshohocken, PA was visited by volunteers from St. Thomas of Villanova and Mother of Good Counsel Parishes. The group of volunteers, comprised of students in Grades 6–8, camp counselors, and adult chaperones, all assisted with grounds maintenance and cleanup as an act of service to their community. The volunteers assisted with the cleanup and landscaping of three shrines, planted flowers and new foliage, and mulched flower beds.

The volunteers, or “Stewards” as the parish refers to them, attend a one-week Summer Service Camp for children and teenagers that are members of the St. Thomas of Villanova and Mother of Good Counsel Parishes. This program’s goal is to educate young members of the parish on responsibility, developing leadership & teamwork skills, and compassion. This is also a great way for teenage stewards to get a head start on college applications and resumes. Specific information on the program can be found here.

Calvary Cemetery, a member of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and managed by EverStory Partners, was honored to receive assistance from the stewards of St. Thomas of Villanova. Their assistance was greatly appreciated, and the location staff were happy to educate them on the effort and care that goes into maintaining eternal resting places for members of the community and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
